The entrants must create a 3m x 3m concept boutique bathroom space using any products within the range. The winner will have their own bathroom design realised at Salone del Mobile 2018 – one of the top destinations of global interior design.
Our design uses the idea of the Ying Yang deeply rooted in Chinese Culture, where we live, as the structural idea to drive the concept.
In Chinese philosophy, yin and yang describe how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another.”
The project come to life from the idea of separate the square 3x3mt room in two complementary half, the wet area and the dry area, in an unconventional shape, giving to both of them the function and usability with a modern but sophisticated look of a luxury hotel bathroom.
A floor to ceiling clear glass divides the areas, highlighted from an LED strip light that runs on the floor and all the way up to the walls, marking the end of one material and the beginning of the other, as the Yin and the Yang.
Two different material, in contrast, the minimal concrete against the warm natural timber make the background of the room, in their shade of grey to have the white Victoria + Albert Ravello products popping out against them.
The curves of the Ravello bath and Basins and the Tubo tap ware soften the rigorousness of the lines in the entire project, drawing attention to them self. The timber unusually climbs the walls on the dry area, where a concrete bench supports the over counter basin and tap in front of a big mirror also included in an LED strip light flush to the wall, shaped as the glass to give continuity to the project.
Soft light for an elegant bathroom, an experience of senses, a cosy space where to retire and relax after a tough day during a business trip or travelling in a chaotic city, the dream bathroom you expect in a luxury hotel.
The project was modelled in Archicad 21 and rendered using Twinmotion. The fixtures were found as 3ds objects and converted into Archicad GDL objects.
